/ ROUTING DESIGN

Lower cost first.
Fallback by choice.

The planned flow checks a compatible lower-cost route first. If you enable fallback and that attempt fails safely, it can try an eligible official route. Official pricing may be higher; a fallback is never a promise of success.

  1. 01Choose a model

Check the model and illustrative price before a request.

  2. 02Set fallback

Off by default. An official route is considered only with your consent.

  3. 03Settle the result

The planned billing rule charges each successful item at its final route and releases unused reserve.

PLANNED

MCP, skills, and in-doc testing

Agent-friendly tools and a live request tester are planned. Installation and test actions will appear after they are verified.

01

Less to manage.

Create and manage an API key in your account. The same account will support every model family as integrations go live.

02

A plan for failure.

The routing design starts with a lower-cost channel and considers an official fallback only when you opt in.

03

Know what you paid.

The billing design settles each successful item at its final route and releases unused reserved credits.

/ BILLING DESIGN · EXAMPLE

Reserve first.
Settle what succeeds.

The planned flow uses USD-purchased credits. It reserves an estimated maximum before a request, then settles successful items and releases the remainder. The figures shown are examples, not live rates.

Before you build with APIstable

Can I make live model calls today?+

Not yet. The catalog, prices, outputs, and playground are previews while provider integrations are being completed.

How is official fallback intended to work?+

Fallback is off by default. When enabled, a confirmed eligible failure may trigger one compatible official attempt. It can cost more and does not guarantee success.

Are the prices final?+

No. Current prices illustrate the planned credit flow. Actual model and route rates will be published after provider integration and verification.

Can I test requests in the docs or use MCP and skills?+

The docs currently provide guides and copyable examples, while the playground demonstrates the flow without upstream calls. Live in-doc testing, MCP, and skills are planned.
